The cosmetics company Lush wanted to make a stand against animal testing and so resorted to some drastic measures in London. When you see these pictures, everything begins to sway and my vocal chords contract out of the desire to start screaming out of disgust.

What bystanders witness cannot be described in words: a young woman, dressed in nothing but a skin-colored body suit was tied up and gagged, being delivered helplessly to her fate.

Then she was force fed until the tubes overcame her gag reflex, restricting her airflow. The 24-year-old Jacqueline Trade was the main protagonist of this heart-wrenching art performance, depicting practices that are still commonly applied during animal testing.

But that wasn’t all: during the torture, irritating chemicals were spritzed into her eyes. The panic reflected in the face of the young animal rights activist was in no way fake. They pushed the limits of her own tolerance, and then some.

As a macabre crescendo to the entire evocative art performance, Jacqueline’s hair was shaved down to her scalp. Even this part of the torture is no science fiction, but a sad reality.

But, the brave young woman endured the entire ordeal without complaint. Exactly like the millions of animals that must submit to such methods daily.

In the mean time a considerable number of bystanders had gathered in front of the window. Even representatives of the press were present and could not believe their eyes. Those gathered only realized the truth through the course of the performance.
