Dubai Are Going To Build An Underwater Tennis Court And It Looks Amazing
Straight from the department of “no, really, this is actually something human beings are doing,” Dubai could be getting underwater tennis courts with hopes of one day hosting a tennis Grand Slam on them.
This latest “look how much money we’ve got” idea was presented by Polish architect Krysztof Kotala. Who wants to put a giant piece of glass over seven tennis courts at the bottom of the Persian Gulf, in between the Burj al Arab (the world’s only seven-star hotel) and the Palm Jumeirah islands (the world’s most expensive palm tree).
Fish would swim overhead as Djokovic and Federer do battle below ground level, after their previous meeting on the Burj al Arab’s helipad!
When asked why he chose Dubai for his project, Kotala said the Gulf city had a rich tradition of tennis. He also said, “This will be something original. This should be somewhere where there is the tradition of tennis. Dubai is perfect for this idea.”
The battle of the Middle Eastern billionaires shows no signs of slowing. First Dubai built the tallest building in the world, now Saudi Arabia have smashed it out the park. But all that cash and glamour has a dark underbelly, many people in Dubai are living beyond their means, which is why the city has an insane problem with people abandoning supercars.
Can’t even imagine what they’ll think of next.
