Touching Moment A 5-Year Old Forces His Mother To Buy Dinner For Homeless Man
When I was five I was too busy playing with my rattle and making a mess of my dinner to notice much else. Fortunately, for the wellbeing of the planet, this 5-year old has got his head well and truly screwed on.
5-year-old Josiah Duncan and his mum, Ava Faulk, were eating at a waffle house in Alabama when the young man saw a homeless man sitting outside of the restaurant.
Tormented by how rough the man looked, he started asking his mum questions about him and she explained that the man didn’t have a home to go to so had to sleep on the street.
“The homeless man came in and sat down and nobody really waited on him. So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can’t order without one. At first he just asked for bacon, but Josiah insisted on giving him more than just that. The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried,” Josiah’s mum.
The world has a burgeoning problem with homelessness. In The States alone, there are roughly 620,000 homeless people. With such staggering numbers living outside and potentially hungry, acts of kindness like Josiah’s demonstrated are needed more frequently.
There are positive signs, though. A few weeks ago a pizza place in Philadelphia gave out 15,000 slices to the homeless in a publicly backed scheme that has gained widespread acclaim. Hopefully, these isolated instances of kindness can grow and expand into a more holistic way of helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
