These 2 Tourists Had NO Idea They Were Feet Away From Mortal Danger

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…

I had a pretty irrational fear of sharks as a kid (thanks a lot Jaws!). Every time I went to the seaside, I’d wonder how many of the swimming-killers were in my vicinity. All the while, my head would be filled with the films theme song; getting fast and faster.

My dad would always laugh at my irrational fear. I had more chance of winning the lottery than getting eaten by a shark, he said. And I sort of believed it. Sharks remained a fear, but an irrational one… one I would never have to face.

These 2 Tourists Had NO Idea They Were Feet Away From Mortal Danger

That was until I saw this video. Turns out sharks are swimming about far too close to beaches, far too close for comfort. These tourists were wading in shallow water close to a sandy beach, when something literally from my nightmares happened.

The chances of being attacked by a shark are remote, but being near a full-grown one while it’s feeding is a truly terrifying scenario! And it’s not like you can swim away from one once you see it… well, unless your Michael Phelps.

Once they’ve caught you, those razor sharp teeth are almost impossible to get away from, injury-free. Just ask this surfing prodigy who lost an arm to a shark when she was just 13, yet she remains a surfing world champion. Awesome.
