World Is Getting Dumber Because Intelligent Women Aren’t Having Kids

I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that the world is getting dumber. Two minutes in front of a reality TV show proves how much we worship stupidity. And why is it that those who appear the stupidest are the ones who keep having children? I’m not suggesting people shouldn’t be allowed to have kids, but it has occurred to me that this could be causing the word to become stupider.

Well, a recently study by a scientist named Satoshi Kanazawa strongly suggests that we are indeed becoming more thick – and it’s due to the fact that smart women just aren’t reproducing. Kanazawa, researcher from the London School of Economics, has published a book called “The Intelligence Paradox: Why the Intelligent Choice Isn’t Always the Smart One”. It suggests that intelligence and maternal urge in women are inversely proportionate – leaving the less intelligent women to become the mothers in society while intelligent women focus on their careers.

The research suggests that for every 15 IQ points a woman possesses, her maternal urge drops by 25 percent. While this would leave a lot of women with no maternal urge at all, more and more women are choosing not to have kids.

Kanazawa explains in the study: “General intelligence is known to be highly heritable… and the genes that influence general intelligence are thought to be located on the X chromosomes… It means that boys inherit their general intelligence from their mothers only, while girls inherit their general intelligence from their mothers and from their fathers.”

Kanazawa continues: “So women influence the general intelligence of the future generations more than men do. If more intelligent women are more likely to remain childless… then one potential consequence is that the average level of general intelligence may decline over time.”

It turns out that Kanazawa isn’t alone in his musings. A study by the Pew Research Center suggests that “most educated women still are among the most likely never to have a child”. Intrinsically, women should be able to choose whether they have children. Instrumentally though, this phenomenon is causing intelligence to be bred out of humans.

Increasingly, career-focused women are choosing not to have children until later on in life, by which time the peak level of fertility has passed. If it proves too late, not only will there be no baby, there’ll also be no intelligent genes passed onto the next generation.

So next time you’re walking down the street and your path is blocked by stupid couples with stupid children, make a note to reproduce. After all, you’re one of the intelligent ones. Right?
