Woman Sets Her Housemate On Fire Because He Threw Away Her Meatballs

set her roommate on fire after getting into a heated argument, because he had thrown away her spaghetti meatballs.

After a night out drinking, Ms Sellers reportedly returned to her home in Clearwater, Florida at around 2.30am. She noticed her meatballs were gone from the fridge and immediately flew into a rage upon finding that Carlos Ortiz, 42, had thrown away her meal.

The arrest report states she then doused Mr Ortiz in flammable nail polish remover and set him ablaze. Melissa Dawn Sellers was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Mr Ortiz’s friend Ines Causevic, who witnessed the bizarre incident, immediately threw water over him and tried to put out the flames out with his shirt and a towel.

‘When he got up his face looked like it was melting off, it was pink and sore. His lips were burning,’ Causevic said. He then rushed Mr Ortiz to the local hospital, where doctors say he is in a critical condition with severe burns to his face, chest and shoulders.

Ms Sellers fled the scene straight after the incident, but later returned to her step-father’s house nearby where she was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Neighbours Katherin Mudse said Mr Ortiz kindly allowed Ms Sellers to stay in his flat as she was evicted from her last residence. ‘He’s just a nice man. He was trying to help this girl. He took care of her dogs,’ she added.
