This Photo Made Animal Lovers Furious But If You Look Close Enough Its Absolutely Hilarious

This viral photo has made animal lovers furious. The photo shows Steven Spielberg on set of Jurassic Park, posing with what appears to be a dead dinosaur. The response was highly unexpected, and was fueled by Internet funny-man Jay Branscomb who posted the photo to his Facebook account with the caption: “Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man.”

Instantly the world took Jay’s side, but much more literally than he ever expected. Instead of seeing the humor in Jay’s joke, many people instantly assumed the talented Mr. Spielberg actually did somehow travel back in time, slaughter a dinosaur and then pose wearing a smile beside his kill.

Flash-forward to reality, where Dinosaurs no longer prowl the planet, and Steven Spielberg is not a known hunter, and the photo and surrounding reactions are actually hilarious.

The image was taken back in 1993 on the set of Jurassic Park, and no real dinosaurs were harmed in the making of the film or the photo. Regardless of what might seem obvious, the photo made animal lovers furious, prompting people to post all kinds of nasty comments in the name of animal rights.

He’s a digesting inhumane p***k. I’d love to see these hunters be stopped..”

“I’m going to boycott all of his movies until he stops this mindless slaughter of defenseless animals. this is an absolute OUTRAGE! i can’t believe my eyes.”

“Steven Spielberg, I’m disappointed in you. I’m not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER.”

“I don’t care who he is he should not have shot that animal.”This Photo Made Animal Lovers Furious But If You Look Close Enough Its Absolutely Hilarious

There were a few people out there that saw the joke behind Jay’s caption, and the impossibility of the photo.

“Disgraceful. No wonder dinosaurs became extinct. Sickos like this kill every last one of them as soon as they are discovered. He should be in prison.”

“He should be killed instead. Beautiful creature innocently living millions of years ago then this monster comes along.”

“So great to be part of this magnificent thread dedicated to the extinct species of the world …. Namely our brain cells. Get to work people!! Myself included lol.”

The photo quickly acquired over 5,000 comments and 30,000 shares; despite the fact the Triceratops has been 100% extinct for some 66 million years. This turned Stephen Spielberg into the most hated man on the Internet for a short while, until the obvious truth behind the photo was finally revealed to all.

Jay was quick to respond to the unexpected attention surrounding his photo of Spielberg, not with apologies or an explanation of course. In true comic fashion, Jay posted another photo of Spielberg from way back in the day with the caption:

“Folks, we need your help identifying the vicious shark-killer shown posing with his illegal prey. Sharks are essential to the ecosystem and their waters are protected off the coast of California. If you have any knowledge of this fiend’s identity or whereabouts, please contact authorities immediately.”

As an animal lover, I have a hard time understanding hunters who kill for sport and even though it was a silly mistake, I applaud anyone who took the time to defend the dinosaur. After all, nothing is worse than a hunter who is callous enough to pose with his or her kill, as if that animal is not important or deserving of life and respect.

Thankfully, even though this photo initially made many animal lovers furious, no dinosaurs (or current living species) were harmed. All animal lovers may resume enjoying Steven Spielberg’s films!
