Newly-Found Diary of JFK Identifies More than 250 of His Mistresses
Boston| History students from Harvard University made an astounding find last week, while identifying and listing some 185,000 books and documents recently donated by the Kennedy family. They discovered a previously unknown personal diary, held by President John F. Kennedy from 1959 to 1963, in which he identifies an impressive total of 263 different mistresses of his. The diary was found among a pile of notebooks and other handwritten documents, by a group of students under the direction of Professor Martin Dunham. It was part of a collection of works belonging to JFK, that was recently given to the university’s library by the former President’s daughter and current United States Ambassador to Japan, Caroline Bouvier Kennedy. It contains a day to day account of the President’s love life and sexual adventures, written in a tone that is very personal and intimate. JFK, for the most part, is candid about his faults, intentions, and motivations, and writes about his successes and failures with good humor. The intimate confession, is largely devoid of repentance or remorse. Kennedy openly celebrates the senses, especially regarding music, food, and women, and seems to be spending most of his time engaging in amorous pursuits and getting into many sexual escapades resembling cinematic plots.
The 200 page document is a real collection of sexually oriented entries written from the hand of President Kennedy himself. It gives a surprising insight into the famous politician’s personal life, which seems to have surpassed the legend that had been built around it.
Flirtations, bedroom games, and short-term liaisons seem to have definitely been common in Kennedy’s life, as adventures with over 250 different women are mentioned in the journal, over a period of only four years. The list of women identified in this exclusive document, includes many well-known names among the female stars of his time, like the actresses Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly and Brigitte Bardot. A couple of the names with whom the President describes sexual intercourse are very surprising, especially Claudia Alta Taylor, the wife of his own vice-president, Lindon Johnson. Other surprising names include Rut Brandt, the second wife of Willy Brandt, the mayor of Berlin who would become German Chancellor, and the sister of Queen Elizabeth II and Countess of Snowdon, Princess Margaret. The diary also confirms the claims of many women who have admitted having affairs with JFK, like the White House intern, Mimi Alford, White House Secretaries, Priscilla Wear and Jill Cowen, the German prostitute, Ellen Rometsch, the famous stripper, Blaze Starr, and even Jackie’s press secretary, Pamela Turnure.
“The President names so many women that it’s hard to even keep track of which one he is talking about”
says Professor Dunham.
“Some of them are clearly identified, while others are simply mentioned by their first name or nickname. It clearly shows the importance of sex in President Kennedy’s life, since almost everything in the diary is sexually oriented. Some of the entries are very short, like “I had sex with Betty in the Oval Office”, while others are long and elaborate descriptions of sexual activities on fantasies, often incredibly detailed.”
Professor Dunham considers the diary to be “
the most exciting find
” of his career, despite the diary’s shocking content. “
The insight it gives into JFK’s personal is precious for historians
” he says proudly.
This new discovery tends to confirm that even in the pantheon of sexual narcissists drawn to politics, Kennedy’s obsessive conquesting remains the gold standard for bad behavior. “If I don’t have sex every day, I get a headache,” John F. Kennedy would allegedly remark to anyone who would listen, from British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan to a few lowly senatorial aides. Well, his personal diary seems to show that the President didn’t have to suffer from too many headaches during the last years of his life…
