Marathon Runner Tries To Find Mystery Man She Kissed, Hears From His Wife Instead

According to the traditions of the town of Wellesley, women are to offer kisses to men running the Boston Marathon – but in an interesting gender role reversal, runner Barbara Tatge flipped tradition on its head by kissing a handsome man on her run through the town – good girl…or apparently not.

Marathon Runner Tries To Find Mystery Man She Kissed Hears From His Wife Instead

After going viral when her daughter Paige sent a picture of the kiss to The Wellesley Townsman, Barbara set out on a hopeful journey of tracking down the man she locked lips with but this was no Cinderella ending.

Barbara did hear back but it wasn’t from the man, it was from his wife. The married couple prefer to remain anonymous but the wife submitted a letter to The Wellesley Townsman and she was in fact very gracious about the matter.

“When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised. For me, I’m not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief! While this may not be the ending that you had hoped for, that spontaneous, silly moment in Wellesley captured the fun, energy and spirit of the Boston Marathon…I greatly admire your spunk and courage and wish you many happy races in the future. Congratulations on your Boston finish!”

Good on her I say, the perfect combination of ‘back-off-bitch-don’t-think-my-husband-is-interested’ and ‘you’re-a-great-runner-no-hard-feelings’.

Tatge is brushing the incident aside and insisting she will be running in the Boston marathon again next year but sticking to kissing only single men… Yeah, that’s what we all say Barbs.
