Mansions are almost synonymous with scare these days since many horror films feature mansions as the hub of all things dark, mysterious and possessed. Those that are especially spooky are the ones that were built long before our own existence; walls lined with past traumas and all things disturbing. This is all myth of course, or is it?

The S.K. Pierce Mansion, was designed and built in 1875 by a chair manufacturer named Sylvester.K Pierce. Putting aside any of it’s past, it makes an impressive listing, boasting 10 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 11 foot ceilings, marble fireplaces throughout, original windows, doorknobs, hinges and floors. On the market for just $329,000 (around 216,000) and as someone who is currently looking at properties, you’d struggle to get a 3-bed for this in most places.

The catch? The mansion is listed as one of the most haunted homes in all of New England, US. Since the property was first built, it has had seven recorded deaths within it – one of a strangled prostitute (they estate agent probably wont tell you this if you go for a viewing, mind.) There’s no avoiding it though since the home has featured on countless shows like Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, My Ghost story and others.

The home has previously been sold and used as a brothel, so you’d probably want to ask for it unfurnished. There’s no doubt the home is actually quite stunning, past aside but it seems that and the good value isn’t winning anyone over as of yet.
