Here’s How to Turn a Watermelon Into A Big-Batch Jell-O Shot
So summer is well and truly here and that means only one thing… Jell-O shots! Ideal for parties and BBQs now the weather is scorching, everyone loves something a little different rather than just knocking back neat vodka. With that in mind, here is a Jell-O shot recipe that all your friends will love.
It starts with one massive watermelon, and ends with a lovely refreshing Jell-O shot that will definitely outdo any that you’ve had before!
Boozy and delightful, here is the recipe for everything you’ll need to make this monolithic summer treat.
Ingredients
1 12-16 pound watermelon
4 cups vodka
4 3-ounce boxes red Jell-O mix
2 1-ounce boxes unflavored gelatin
Method
Start by cutting your melon in half and scrapping out the fleshy inside. The recipe suggests using a knife to make sure that you’re cutting close to the rind, before using a spoon to actually fish out the juicy fruit on the inside.
Once you’ve shaped your watermelon halves into bowls, you’re ready for the next step. Pour in the Jell-O mix and vodka as you would for any other type of shot recipe. Since this a very big jelly shot, you should also add in extra gelatin to make the mixture firmer. Finally, stick it in the fridge to allow it to set.
Now comes the fun part… slicing. Obviously it’s up to you how to slice it, but going for slices gives it that authentic watermelon look. No pressure though, just enjoy yourself.
How amazing does that look?! I literally can’t wait to kick back in my garden and enjoy this after a few juicy ribs and a nice cheeseburger. It might look like a bit of an effort, but this recipe is an absolute game-changer this year. If you are looking for something cheesy and meaty to go with your watermelon shot slices, then look no further than this pizza-burger hybrid. I can’t think of any meal I’d rather enjoy in the sunshine.
