It seems crazy to think about now, but there was a time in this country when there were no contractors and pretty much everyone had to build their own home by themselves… from scratch. No real estate brokers. You just picked a spot and set up shop.

While those days may be long gone, there are still people who like to take home construction into their own hands, literally, and do so in the most amazing ways.

This person decided that it was time to build his dream home.

He started with four shipping containers, stripping the inside and carefully cutting away certain sections.

Then a foundation was laid and the containers were stacked on top of one another, forming the bones of the house.

A few months later, this was the result. And if you think that’s impressive, just wait until you see inside.

The whole house gets incredible natural light.

There’s a lot of room for lounging.

The house’s unique construction allows for some very creative spaces.

You don’t even know you’re actually inside… a bunch of metal shipping containers.

It also comes with a full kitchen.

With plenty of room for a kitchen table and eating area.

The bathroom is magnificent too.

And just look at the amazing bedroom it’s attached to.

Imagine taking a bath in here on a gentle spring night.

We actually had to stop looking at those pictures in fear that we may die of jealousy. It’s incredible to think of how they built this thing!
