A cave includes any naturally occurring large underground structure, most often formed into the side of a mountain or cliff. Ice Cave, Skaftafell, Iceland

Located in a preservation area located in r fi, southeast Iceland, this incredible cave plays tricks on the mind as it ebbs and flows, reflecting back on itself. Daylight touches the ice formations from both above and bellow, creating the most beautiful and unique effect.

The Ice Cave was created from ice coming down the mountainside for hundreds of years, creating a highly pressurized glacier that contains little to no air bubbles. This lack of bubbles means the ice reflects nearly every last bit of light, letting only shades of blue through.

Fingal’s Cave, Scotland

Fingal’s cave is located on an uninhabited island of Staffa. The awesome patterns all along the walls look as though an artist shaped them using numerous tools, but instead the hexagonal columns naturally formed this way thanks to solidified lava.

Reed Flute Cave, China

Guilin, Guangxi, China, considers this natural limestone light show to be one if its most interesting and incredible attractions. The magical display has been around for 180 million years. Not only does this cave look like a ride at Disneyland, but also the cave can make music! It’s called the Reed Flute Cave because there is a type of reed that grows just outside the cave that is commonly used to make musical flutes.

The Cave Of Three Bridges, Tannourine, Lebanon

While each cave on this list is unique, the Cave of Three Bridges is entirely different from the rest. This site offers a more open air feel than some of the other caves on the list. The constant force of the Baatara Gorge Waterfall has caused a series of bridges and tunnels to form.

Antelope Canyon, USA

Just outside of Page, Arizona, a slot canyon sits on Navajo land. Mass flash flooding is largely responsibly for causing the erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, giving it its incredibly unique appearance today. Whenever the floods come, the water races through the cave, using force, sand, and debris to shape the many narrow passageways. As a result, the rocks have an awesome shape, just like waves by made water-go figure!

Cave of Crystals, Chihuahua, Mexico

The Cave of Crystals contains some of the world’s largest natural crystals ever found. The largest crystal ever discovered here was 39 feet in length and 13 feet wide, and it weighed a wealthy 55 tons! The cave is attached to the Naica Mine, and is said to be very hot, perhaps due to all of the energy pulsating through the many beautifully charged crystals. Without proper protection you can only enter the cave for 10 minutes at one time. Inside, the cave has inscriptions dating back to 792 AD, during the Tang Dynasty.

Glowworm Caves, New Zealand

Located on the North Island of New Zealand, this famous cave sits packed with a unique species of glowworms that is exclusive to the island. The glowworms are tiny, no bigger than the average mosquito, but together they create such a magical show of lights lining the walls of the cave.
